Dispositions for Websites
The Bolster platform applies the following dispositions to websites after scanning:
- Clean – There is no enforceable content on the site. Any trademarks used are considered fair use. No enforcement action can be taken.
- Phish – Site is made to look like it is affiliated with a specific brand, and it collects Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as email/username and password, Social Security number, and credit card information.
- Scam – Site abuses a company trademark and can include false affiliation or false information. These sites may also collect some information such as email addresses, but do not collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Sites that are also classified as Scam include unauthorized mobile app downloads, unauthorized coupon codes, fake gift cards, and fake gift card balance checks sites.
- Suspicious – Site has a domain variant URL or a URL that is similar to the legitimate brand URLs, but has no active or enforceable content. When sites are marked as suspicious the system will continue monitoring for changes in content.
- Hacked – Site has been hacked and taken over by a malicious third party.
- Cryptojacking – Site is using someone’s server/machine without their authorization to mine cryptocurrency.
- Other – Site does not fall under defined categories, but requires review.
